It’s liberating, yes, but it’s also heavy. There’s grief, sadness, and emotional burnout that comes with making new choices, setting firm boundaries, and learning to treat yourself the way you’ve always deserved.



I know how heavy this work can feel—I’ve been there. Growing up, I had relationships with a father who was often absent and emotionally distant, and a mother who leaned on me in ways no child should have to navigate. At the time, I didn’t realize that what I considered “normal” was actually shaping patterns that didn’t serve me. Stepping into healing wasn’t easy. It meant looking closely at those dynamics and understanding how they influenced the way I moved through the world. There were times when it felt overwhelming, like I was untangling knots that had been there for generations.
But here’s what I want you to know: those knots can be untangled, and you are not alone in doing this work. Healing is messy, and it’s rarely linear, but it’s also incredibly freeing. You’ll start to notice the space you create for yourself—the clarity, the lightness, and the sense of self that feels authentic and true. Take it one step at a time. You are breaking cycles, rewriting patterns, and reclaiming your story. And while it may feel heavy right now, you are creating a life that will feel lighter and more aligned with who you truly are. You’ve already shown so much courage to get here. Keep going—you are not alone.

My hope is that this can become a space where we connect, support each other, and have valuable discussions with those walking a similar path. Connection is so important when we start to break cycles, untether from old stories, and rewrite new ones.
You should be so proud of the courageous decisions you’ve made to break free from harmful cycles—whether they show up in your family, relationships, workplace, or within yourself. For me, this has meant going no contact with certain family members, setting boundaries with people who once benefited from my people-pleasing, and leaving behind a version of myself that felt small and unheard. The process of stepping into your truth is a radical act of self-love, and it’s deserving of care and nourishment.

Through therapy, I’ve learned that being a black sheep, a scapegoat, and a cycle breaker is a lonely path, but it’s one that so many of us walk.
